Howie RegpLegendary Bermudian musician Howie Rego — a member of the local garage band The Savages in the 1960s who went on to work with such superstar acts as Sly & The Family Stone — will be drumming up support for the Bermuda Society of Arts [BSoA] next Saturday [May 4].

Mr. Rego and a group of local and international artists will be staging “The Art & Soul Live Music Revue” to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the BSoA at the organisation’s City Hall gallery.

“High powered performance of all the classic hits are guaranteed to get everyone dancing,” said a spokesperson.

After living in New York for many years and performing with such stars Peter Frampton, Edgar Winter and Danny Kalb of The Blues Project, Mr. Rego eventually returned to Bermuda. In recent years he has produced MusicQuest, a series of special shows at the Bermuda Musical & Dramatic Society, featuring the different musical styles of jazz, R&B, Caribbean jazz, and rock & roll.

“The Art & Soul” revue is the latest in a series of concerts the Bermudian drummer has staged to benefit the BSoA.

The show takes place on Saturday, May 4 from 9-12 p.m. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets: BSoA Members $52.50, non-members $62.50. Pricing includes BermudaTix fee. For further information contact the BSoA at 292-3824 – bsoa@ibl.bm
