A young Bermudian rapper made his debut on BET’s 106 & Park show last night, where he thrilled the crowd with his performance of “Fly High”, with viewers voting him as the winner over a US rapper.
16-year-old Jeremiah Steede — who performs under the name Lil Quan — appeared on the show along with Bermudian producer Cahlii Smith of Dem Biez after winning the ‘Can You Rip It?’ competition against five other local students a few months ago.
The 106 & Park show had a ‘voting’ segment, where viewers could vote on who was the best, and Bermuda’s Lil Quan defeated the US rapper to claim the win.
The show is shown on the BET network, which reaches more than 90 million households in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Middle East, Africa and the Caribbean.
Lil Quan — a student at CedarBridge Academy — is a multi-talented young man who also excels in track and field, and has represented the island internationally at the Carifta Games.
Speaking after the show, Lil Quan and Dem Biez thanked everyone for the support. “Support the youth,” they said. “We are doing big things. When we get back, we are not going to stop.”
